FAQ

Plant Cultivation

  • How to grow plants? Basic conditions for cultivation can be found on this website under the cultivation basics section.

  • How long does acclimatization take? Acclimatization is individual and varies, typically lasting a few weeks.

  • Do plants need feeding? Carnivorous plants don’t require insects to survive, but insects provide nutrients not obtained from soil. While they grow better with insects, they thrive well without them too.

  • Can plants be fertilized? Fertilization is possible in specific cases, but it’s not recommended for beginners as it can harm plants quickly. Proper cultivation conditions are a prerequisite for fertilization.

  • Can I dilute substrate or use alternative substrates? Carnivorous plants are sensitive to substrate composition. It’s crucial to follow the substrate guidelines mentioned in cultivation basics.

  • Why are my plant traps drying out? Traps naturally die as they age and are replaced by new ones. During dormancy, plants shed leaves or modify their leaf forms. Excessive drying during the growth season indicates an issue. For Venus flytraps, avoid unnecessarily triggering traps as they last around five closures.

Mold on Substrate

  • Mold is often caused by high humidity or unstable substrate after repotting. Limited mold isn’t harmful, but excessive mold can be detrimental. Chamomile extract sprayed on mold helps it disappear.

Flowering & Propagation

  • Venus flytrap flowering can weaken plants. Unhealthy plants should have their flowers cut. For pollination, a second, unrelated plant blooming simultaneously is needed.

Proper Planting

  • Guidelines for proper planting are available in cultivation tips.

Sales & Shipping

  • Plant sizes: Plants are categorized into S, M, L, and XL sizes, varying by species and seasonal growth stages.

  • Photographs: Main photos depict plants in optimal conditions and full growth. Size-specific photos are estimates of actual appearance.

  • Shipping method: Plants are shipped unpotted, wrapped roots in moist material inside sealed bags. Substrate can be shipped with plants.

  • Shipping schedule: Plants are shipped every Monday or Tuesday to ensure delivery before the weekend.
